International Computer Security Day
Read Exodus 3:1-12
MEMORISE: Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2)
EXPOSITION
A major factor in effective computer work is concentration/focus. The more focussed on the right thing, shoving aside the irrelevances, the better your job is. This has spiritual implications.
Moses was directed by God to lead the Israelites out of captivity. He had several misgivings and excuses, but God chose to use him, all the same. Getting the Israelites to believe that God had sent him was his first challenge. Rather than jump for joy at the hope, slaves needed a demonstration of God's power to convince them. Convincing Pharaoh to release his source of free labour was another matter. Looking to God for help, he led the Israelites out, following a miraculous intervention.
On his own, He was not the best option to lead the captive slaves out to freedom. He was neither eloquent nor confident, but he looked up to the One who had chosen him for the grace to fulfil his duties. The awareness of the presence of God helped him to do what he ordinarily would have been unable to do. At every point, as he led the Israelites on their journey to the Promised Land, he sought God for direction, and followed the given instructions. The first and only time he shifted his face and looked at the rebellion of the people, he disobeyed divine instruction and lost his ticket to the Promised Land.
Who are your eyes focused on? Are you still looking at the Master, or have you been distracted by circumstances? Paying attention to the circumstances around you can propel you into making costly mistakes. Focusing on the Master ensures effective performance. Look unto Him who is the Author and Perfecter of your faith.
